Bengalis have returned to workplace after Durga Puja Carnival , but Bengal is still in festive mood . When it comes to Durga Puja , pandel hopper Bengalis flock to Kolkata and do pandel hopping through the night . When you plan to enjoy Durga Puja in West Bengal , obvious destination is Kolkata . City of Joy becomes city of Puja pandels .

When it comes to Kali Puja , the same bhaktas rushing to another destination such as Barasat and Madhyamgarm . These two places are popular for Kali Puja .

If you miss home town puja bash during Durga puja festival , still you can enjoy whole day at Madhyamgram and Barasat . I am not statistics Guru , not having exact data , still I can guess that there are more tham 20 big budget Kali Puja in and around barsat and Madhyamgram .

This year kali puja was held on 10th November ( Tuesday). I took a day off to plan for pandels hopping in Madhyamgram and Barasat. Kolkata is famous for Durga puja festival , and Barasat and Madhyamgram are equally famous for kali puja.

Most famous kali puja in Madhyamgram is Agragami kalipuja utsav just located 500 meter from our house. On kali puja night, we have covered 5 big pujas in madhyamgram. Here I added some photos of Maa kali idols from various pandels.

My additional bonus puja experience was enjoying kali puja celebration in IIT kharagpur. You might have thought iit kharagpur is a place only for study. but iit kharagpur is a famous place many cultural festivals like Ganapati puja , Durga puja , kali puja.
This year I made small trip to iit kharagpur campus to visit 3 pandels.
Kali puja near iit main gate: Nicely decorated pandel and lighting created a festive mood in Diwali evening. It has been organised by iit kharagpur security committee.

Second campus kali puja was near Tikka. And third puja was close to iit prem bazar gate. All these three pujas are unique in their style , theme and presentation.

Kali Puja experience in 2017
This year’s Kali puja (19Th October, 2017) was happened 15 days earlier than last year Puja. But, this year rain is refusing to retreat. There was a heavy rain forecast during Kali Puja. We planned to go for Kali Puja Pandel hopping on 19Th October, 2017 in Barasat and Madhyam area. Since, roads are closed to restrict vehicle movement in Barasat, we hired a TOTO (small battery operated van) to cover maximum possible puja pandel in barasat. When we reached Barasat, roads are closed since 4 p.m. We managed to see some Kali puja near Chapadalli more towards Taki road.

It was 10 P.m. night. Drizzling outside, roads looked deserted, still police blocked the roads leading towards many Puja pandels. Around 11 A.M we came back to Madhyamgram area. We visited 4 big pujas in Madhyamgram. When we returned home, it was 11:45 P.M. I have shared some snaps of Kali idols and pandels.
Kali Puja Experience 2018
This year Kali puja was held on 6 November (Tuesday) 2018. During the Kali puja night, we stayed at our local Kali puja temple. At the same time, booked TOTO for Kali puja darshan on next day (7 November 2018). Nowadays, I find many good Kali pujas are celebrated in Madhyamgram than that of Barasat.

During Kali puja festival, the major important areas in Barasat become no-entry zone after sunset. Hence, you cannot reach pandals by car. The only way to do pandal hopping is by walk and watch method.

Our Toto driver took us to Chapadali more Barasat , we have seen a few important pujas near Chapadali. Then we returned back to Madhaymgram, and seen few famous pujas in the town. Here I shared some images of Maa Kali idols and mandop.
